Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) Flakes for Liquid Soap Making in Sri Lanka

Making liquid soap, soft soap, or traditional Castile soap starts with using the right alkali. Potassium Hydroxide (KOH), also known locally as Caustic Potash, is widely used by soap makers because it produces clear, soft, and easily dissolvable soaps that work well for hand wash, body wash, dishwashing liquid, and household cleaning products.

This product contains approximately 90% pure Potassium Hydroxide flakes and is suitable for hobby makers, small businesses, and professional soap manufacturers in Sri Lanka. Unlike Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda), which creates hard bar soaps, KOH produces softer soap with excellent lather and easy dilution. Many soap makers also combine Potassium Hydroxide and Sodium Hydroxide to achieve a specific soap hardness and texture.

1. Wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling.
2. Always add Potassium Hydroxide to water slowly. Never add water directly to KOH.
3. Use heat-resistant containers only.
4. Avoid inhaling dust or vapours generated during mixing.
5. Work near a water source in case of accidental contact.
6. Keep vinegar nearby to help neutralize minor surface spills.
7. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after use.
8. Store in a tightly sealed container away from moisture and out of reach of children.
9. Never leave Potassium Hydroxide unattended during use.
