Oman Gypsum Casting Powder (Low Cost) for Paintable Crafts

Oman gypsum casting powder is a lower cost choice for craft pieces that will be painted. It suits paint-your-own figurines, kids’ art sets, school projects and group workshops. Mix it with water and pour it into a silicone mould to make small decorative castings.

Oman vs. Iranian gypsum: Iranian Premium Gypsum has a light ivory colour, while Oman gypsum has a very light grey shade. Once a casting is covered with opaque paint, this colour difference is not noticeable.

Gypsum casting powder vs. Plaster of Paris: Both are gypsum-based casting materials. Oman gypsum typically gives a denser, harder-feeling cast than soft Plaster of Paris, making it useful for molded craft pieces. Setting time, strength and finish can vary by product, so it is best to compare specific powders rather than assume all Plaster of Paris sets in 15 minutes.

How to use:

1. Mix 2 parts gypsum with 1 part water by weight.
2. Stir until the mixture is smooth, then pour it into the mould.
3. Gently tap the mold to help trapped air bubbles rise. For fewer bubbles, you can also use Gypsum Defoamer as directed.
4. Leave the casting in the mould for about 20–30 minutes, or until it is firm enough to remove. Let it dry fully before painting or sealing.
