Fumed Silica (Hydrophilic & Hydrophobic) - 50g
Fumed Silica, also known as pyrogenic silica, Aerosil®, or Cab-O-Sil®, is an ultra-fine white powder widely used as a thickener, anti-caking agent, and rheology modifier. Just a small amount can improve viscosity, prevent settling, and enhance flow control in resins, paints, adhesives, oils, and many other systems.
This versatile additive is available in Hydrophilic (untreated) and Hydrophobic (surface-treated) grades, making it suitable for both water-based and solvent/oil-based applications.
⚠️ Safety Note: Avoid inhaling dust. Use in a well-ventilated area or with a mask. Keep away from children.
Storage: Store in a sealed container, dry and away from moisture.
Benefits & Advantages:
- Thickens liquids without changing color or finish
- Prevents sagging and dripping on vertical surfaces
- Improves extrusion and workability in pastes and coatings
- Stabilizes formulations by preventing pigment and filler settling
- Enhances texture, spreading, and application control
- Acts as an anti-caking agent in powders
Features:
- Available in both Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic grades
- Extremely fine, lightweight, white fluffy powder
- High surface area for effective thickening at low concentrations
- Insoluble in water, stable across a wide range of systems
- Compatible with epoxy, resins, adhesives, coatings, and industrial formulations
Applications:
- Hydrophilic Fumed Silica (Water-attracting)
- Water-based paints, coatings, and inks
- Solvent-based paints and systems
- Adhesives, sealants, and fillers
- Epoxy resin art, casting, and modeling to create textured effects
- Powdered products where moisture control and anti-caking are needed
- Hydrophobic Fumed Silica (Water-repelling)
- Oil-based systems, resins, and adhesives
- Solvent-based coatings and sealants
- Silicone rubber and elastomers
- Greases and lubricants (improves consistency and prevents separation)
- Hydrophobic powders needing flow improvement and clump resistance
