Mold Making Liquid Latex with Vulcanizing & Strengthening Accelerator

Professional mold making liquid latex is made using Sri Lankan natural rubber & supplied with a separate vulcanizing and strengthening accelerator dispersion. It creates flexible rubber moulds that reproduce fine surface details, making it useful for plaster ornaments, gypsum crafts, concrete casting, sculptures, masks, models and special-effects work.

The latex can air-dry & form a mould without adding the accelerator. For moulds that need better elasticity, tear resistance and longer working life, mix the accelerator into only the amount of latex you are ready to use.

What Does the Accelerator Do? When correctly mixed, the vulcanizing and strengthening dispersion helps improve the rubber structure as it cures. It may provide:

• Better tear strength and elasticity
• Improved curing and layer strength
• Less cracking and brittleness as the mould ages
• Better durability during repeated casting
• A softer, more flexible finished rubber mould

Do not exceed the recommended amount. Adding too much accelerator may shorten the working time or negatively affect the finished rubber.

Common Uses: Use it to make reusable flexible moulds for casting Plaster of Paris, gypsum, selected cement mixtures and other compatible water-based casting materials. It is also suitable for sculpture reproduction, figurines, decorative items, theatrical props, masks, model making and craft projects.

Test before using polyester resin or other solvent containing materials, as some resins may affect natural latex.

How to Use the Accelerator

1. Measure only the latex required for the current working session.
2. Add 0.5-1% accelerator by weight to the latex.
3. Mix slowly and thoroughly without whipping air into the mixture.
4. Apply by brush, dipping or another suitable method.
5. Allow each layer to dry before applying the next.
6. Leave the completed mould to dry fully before removing it from the master.

Thin moulds may dry within approximately 24 hours, while thick, multi-layer molds can require longer.

Adjusting the Thickness:

1. For the first one or two detail coats, use the latex without thickener so it can reach small textures and fine lines. A compatible latex thickener may then be added at 1-5% to build the remaining layers faster.
2. If thinning is required, add only a small amount of demineralized or distilled water with very small amount of ammonia. Avoid excessive dilution.

Colouring: Add a small amount of compatible water-based colour, such as Acrylic Paint or well-dispersed pigment powder. Test a small batch first.

Storage & Safety

• Store tightly closed, away from direct sunlight and UV exposure, at 10-38°C. Do not allow the product to freeze.
• Use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid skin and eye contact. Do not use if you have a known natural rubber latex allergy. Stop using the product and seek medical advice if an allergic reaction occurs. Keep away from children.

Note: Natural latex may have an ammonia smell. Drying time, strength and colour can vary according to layer thickness, temperature, humidity and the amount of accelerator used.
