Seal porous castings & add a shiny finish with this water-based Gloss Gypsum Sealer. This 2-in-1 dipping Penetrating sealer for gypsum crafts combines sealing & varnishing in one application, helping reduce moisture absorption & chalky powder transfer while leaving a finished gloss surface.

The low-viscosity acrylic formula penetrates surface pores & forms a glossy protective film. Suitable for gypsum, Plaster of Paris (POP), casting powder, Jesmonite-type materials & porous cement crafts, it helps protect decorative pieces from light moisture, stains & handling marks.

Why Use It?

  • Seals & adds gloss in one dipping step
  • Reduces dusting & chalky powder transfer
  • Helps reduce water & stain absorption
  • Saves the time & cost of a separate varnish coat
  • Allows additional coats for a higher gloss finish
  • Water-based, low odour & easy to apply

Gloss levels may vary with the casting’s porosity & surface texture. Highly absorbent pieces may need a second coat.

How to Use:

Make sure the casting is completely dry, clean & dust-free. Gypsum castings may take 2-4 days or longer to dry fully, depending on thickness & drying conditions.

1. Pour enough sealer into a clean container.
2. Dip the casting for approximately 10-30 seconds.
3. Remove slowly & allow excess sealer to drain.
4. Allow the first coat to dry before dipping again, if needed.
5. Leave to dry completely before handling.

Important Notes:

  • Water-based paints may not bond well to the sealed surface. If painting, apply colours to the dry, unsealed casting first, then use a compatible clear finish.
  • Test any additional varnish, wax, PU coating or solvent-based paint for compatibility before use.
  • Coloured castings may release pigment into the dipping liquid & stain other pieces. Use a separate portion for coloured items. Do not return used sealer to the original container.
  • Test first: colours may deepen & the surface appearance may change.
  • Improves moisture resistance but does not make castings fully waterproof.
